Frame Crop is made by Shane Jeffers (“I”, “me”). This policy explains what the Frame Crop apps (iPhone, iPad, Android, web and desktop) and the framecrop.app website collect, why, and what you can do about it. If you have any questions, email shane@framecrop.app.
The short version
- You can use most of Frame Crop without an account. Browsing, searching, cropping and sending art to your TV don’t need one.
- If you make an account, I keep your email address, your name if you give one, and what you save: collections, TVs, automations and the art you create.
- Your Frame TV and its pairing details stay on your phone and your home network.
- I don’t sell your data, show ads, or use advertising trackers.
What I collect
If you create an account:
- Email address and name. You sign up with email, Google or Apple. If you use “Hide My Email” with Apple, I get the private relay address.
- What you save: collections, saved art, TVs and automations you set up, and your settings, so they sync across your devices.
- Community: if you publish a collection to Community, its name, its art and your display name are public in the app.
If you use Create with AI:
- Your description, and the photo you choose, are sent to my server and to the AI service that paints it. I don’t keep your original photo after the painting is made.
- The paintings you make are stored in your account so you can view, download and send them again.
If you subscribe to Frame Crop Pro:
- Apple or Google handles the payment; I never see your card details.
- I’m told whether your subscription is active, which plan it is, and when it renews, so the app knows what you’ve paid for.
When you use the app:
- Search terms are counted, without being linked to you, so I can see what people look for. Your search terms are also sent to the art sources you choose to search.
- Crash reports: when the app runs into an error, a report is sent to help me fix it. It includes the device model, OS and app version, what the app was doing, and may include your account ID.
- TV connection statistics: whether connecting to and uploading to a TV worked, how long it took, the TV’s model year, and the app and OS version. These are tied to a random ID created when you install the app, not to your account.
What I don’t collect:
- Your location. On Android, the app asks for location permission because Android requires it to scan your Wi-Fi for TVs. Nothing location-related leaves your device.
- Your TV, its pairing token and its network address. These are stored on your device only.
- Your own photos that you crop or send to your TV. They go directly from your device to your TV, except a photo you choose for Create with AI.
- Contacts, messages, microphone, camera, or browsing history. The app doesn’t use any of them.
The website
framecrop.app uses privacy-friendly analytics that count visits without cookies and without tracking individuals.
Who processes data for me
I use a small number of trusted service providers to run Frame Crop. They process data only on my behalf and only what they need for their job:
- Hosting, database and storage providers: to run the Frame Crop server, store accounts, and store images, including the art you create
- An AI image service: to create paintings from your description or photo
- An AI text service: to describe the art in collections published to Community, so they can be moderated
- A subscription service, plus Apple and Google: to process payments and keep track of your subscription
- Apple and Google: for sign-in, if you choose Sign in with Apple or Google
- A crash-reporting service: to diagnose errors
- An email service: to send account emails, such as confirmations
Each provider is bound by its own privacy and security commitments. If you’d like the list of providers, email me and I’ll share it.
How long I keep it
- Account data: until you delete your account.
- Art you create: until you delete it or your account.
- Crash reports: deleted after about 90 days.
- Search counts and TV connection statistics: kept, since they aren’t linked to you.
Your choices and rights
- See or correct your data: your profile and collections are visible in the app; email me for anything else.
- Delete your account: in the app under your profile → Delete Account, or see framecrop.app/delete-account. This deletes your account, collections, TVs, automations and the art you create.
- Cancel a subscription: through Apple or Google. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel it.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have more rights, such as getting a copy of your data or objecting to how it’s used. Email me and I’ll help.
Children
Frame Crop isn’t directed at children. You must be at least 16 to create an account. If you think a child has given me personal information, email me and I’ll delete it.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access to your account data is limited to you and to me for support.
Changes
If this policy changes, I’ll update it here and change the date at the top. For significant changes, I’ll also let you know in the app.
